NSW Local Citizen of the Year Awards Program 2026

Nominations for the NSW Local Citizen of the Year Awards Program are now open. You can complete your nomination via the online form below or download the PDF from our document library (on your desktop to the right of the screen or on your smartphone by scrolling to the bottom of this page)

You may nominate a friend, family member, community leader, colleague or someone well-known for outstanding efforts in the Snowy Monaro region.

Nominations close 11.59pm Wednesday 14 January 2026.

Submit this application via online form, email, post or in person at any Council offices. When nominating:

  • Please provide as much detail as possible for the nominee
  • Age of nominee must be as at 31 December 2025
  • Nominees must be an Australian resident to be eligible
  • Self-nominations are discouraged. Nominations should be endorsed and reference included
  • Applications are collected by Snowy Monaro Regional Council and will be determined by the Community Australia Day Award Committees, coordinated by Cooma and Jindabyne Lions Clubs and the Bombala Australia Day Celebrations Committee.

Awards will be presented at Australia Day ceremonies held at:

  • Bombala on Saturday 24 January 2026
  • Cooma on Monday 26 January 2026
  • Jindabyne (event to be confirmed)

Australia Day awards and events are coordinated by local community-run committees, with the support of Snowy Monaro Regional Council. Event details will be updated on https://www.snowymonaro.nsw.gov.au/Community/AwardsDonations-and-Grants/Australia-Day
