Consultation has concluded

As we approach the opening of our new Cooma Indoor Sports Facility, we are seeking community input to help develop the fees and charges.

We are inviting key user groups, along with the general public to our drop-in information session on Monday 14 August 2023.

Background

Snowy Monaro Regional Council (SMRC) have been working in partnership with the Department of Education to deliver a new high-quality three-court indoor sports facility.

Built inside the grounds of Monaro High School the indoor sports facility will be operated by SMRC. Separate public and school access will allow the facility to be shared during and after school hours. The all-accessible facility will cater for a range of sporting activities from informal sports to local club and regional-level competitions.

When will the facility open?

The project is currently on track and construction is scheduled to be complete at the end of October 2023. An opening date will be confirmed closer to the time.

What’s included?

  • 3 Timber sprung courts
  • 1 Meeting room (separate external entrance)
  • 1 Court design and sports equipment for basketball, netball, futsal, volleyball and badminton
  • Drop down electronic screen between each court
  • 2 x player change rooms
  • Separate referee change room
  • Public toilets
  • First aid room/office
  • Modern digital scoreboards and portable score benches
  • 5 x Tiered bench seating spectator bays (320 seats)
  • Kiosk with dry storeroom
  • 3 x Community storage rooms
  • 3 Outdoor courts (existing)

When and how can I book the facility?

Once an opening date has been confirmed bookings can be made on our online facility booking platform, http//bookings.snowmonaro.nsw.gov.au

Proposed times for community use are:

Court One

6am and 10.30pm, 7 days per week

Courts Two & Three

During the school term

Monday to Friday 4pm to 10.30pm

Saturday and Sunday 6am to 10.30pm

School Holidays 6am to 10.30pm, 7 days per week

(Court 3 will be booked by the school for the gymnastics program for one term)

Outdoor Courts - during the school term

Monday to Friday 6am to 8am and 4pm to 9pm

Saturdays and Sundays 6am to 10pm

What are the booking fees?

The fees for booking are yet to be determined. We will be working together with our community and key user groups to discuss the possible fee structure to ensure rates are reasonable and equitable. We will be seeking input on the proposed fees and charges at a community drop-in information session.
