Consultation has concluded

Under the Crown Land Management Act 2016, the responsibility for the management of a number of Crown Reserves has been granted to Snowy Monaro Regional Council, as the Crown Reserve Manager. The land is to be managed as community land and requires the preparation of plans of management for the reserves, pursuant to the requirements of the Local Government Act 1993.

A plan of management provides strategic planning and governance for the management and use of land. Plans of management (PoM) set out objectives and performance targets for community land and provide for active land management and use, including the issuing of tenures over the land.

Snowy Monaro Regional Council has appointed SLR Consulting to undertake the preparation of PoMs for the 70 Crown reserves for which Council is now responsible. Confirmation of categorisation for each reserve has been provided by the Crown and the preparation of the PoMs has commenced.

Snowy Monaro Regional Council and SLR Consulting are seeking feedback from users and stakeholders of the reserves and the wider community regarding the use of the reserves, management objectives for the reserves and the means of achieving those objectives. A full list of the relevant reserves has been provided and can be downloaded from the Document Centre on this page, with information on the Crown endorsed categorisation, preliminary use designation and management objectives.

Council is seeking feedback on the use of these reserves and any management objectives relevant to the reserve’s categorisation and use.

Submissions can be made by completing an online survey below, or in writing to the Chief Executive Officer by the following methods:

In-person: to any Council office

Email: council@snowymonaro.nsw.gov.au

This feedback will then be reviewed and will guide the development of draft Plans of Management. Council will then come back out to the community to conduct further consultation on these draft Plans of Management.
