We are seeking feedback on the draft Code of Meeting Practice during the current public exhibition period. Please submit your comments by 5pm on Thursday 27 November 2025.
The Office of Local Government (OLG) has released a new model code of meeting practice, and Council has updated its own Code of Meeting Practice to reflect the updated model code. Council seeks the community’s feedback on these changes.
The provisions of the Model Meeting Code that are not mandatory are indicated in red text. Green text indicates Council’s additions to the model code provisions.
Background
Councils must adopt a code of meeting practice that incorporates the mandatory provisions of the Model Meeting Code.
A council’s adopted code of meeting practice may also incorporate the non-mandatory provisions of the Model Meeting Code and other supplementary provisions. The provisions of the Model Meeting Code that are not mandatory are also included in the draft Code of Meeting Practice.
You can view the draft Code of Meeting Practice by downloading the document from the Document Library(located on the right side of the screen on desktop and laptop computers, or on the bottom of the page on smartphones and tablets) by scrolling down this page on your smartphone or tablet. Or hard copies will be available for viewing at our Council offices.
The final draft will be presented to councillors for adoption at the December Council meeting.
