Draft Local Approvals Policy Timeframe Extension of Recovery Pods
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on LinkedinEmail this link
We are seeking feedback on our draft Local Approvals Policy, that will be on public exhibition until 11.59pm Sunday 3 July 2022.
Public exhibition will be open for a 42 day period between Monday 23 May and Sunday 3 July 2022.
BACKGROUND
Council has prepared a Local Approvals Policy (LAP) under the Local Government Act 1993 for the lease extension of the Recovery Pods that were provided as short term accommodation for people affected by the 2019/20 fires as they rebuilt their homes. Nearing the end of their two year lease, Council acknowledges that extenuating circumstances including COVID-19 restrictions, limited supplier and contractor availability and subsequent disaster events have caused delays to these rebuilds. An extension of 24 months has been proposed through this policy to alleviate stress from the recipients of these Recovery Pods as they continue their rebuilds.
This LAP will require the recipients to provide evidence of progress to their rebuilds at the 12 month mark which may be provided in the form of a Development Application and/or Construction Certificate.
While this LAP allows for Pods to remain on properties beyond two years, individual lease extensions will be agreed between Resilience NSW, the Minderoo Foundation and pod recipients on a case by case basis in accordance with the LAP.
Feedback may be submitted any time during the exhibition period in writing in writing to the Chief Executive Officer via:
Post: Addressed to the CEO, PO Box 714, Cooma, NSW, 2630.
