Draft Property Review and Rationalisation Strategy 2025
We are seeking feedback on our draft Property Review and Rationalisation Strategy, which is on public exhibition from Monday 19 January to Monday 16 February 2026. Please submit your feedback via the form below before 11.59pm on Monday 16 February 2026.
Background
In line with recommendations from the 2022 AEC Financial Sustainability Review, Council included actions in its adopted 2025/2026 Delivery and Operational Plans to undertake an assessment of land and property assets to determine potential divestment and rationalisation of assets that are surplus to requirements, technologically obsolete, no longer meeting community needs, at the end of their useful life, and/or for which there is no demand.
Council is responsible for a large number of properties across the Snowy Monaro region and the cost of managing and maintaining this property portfolio is significant. The draft Property Review and Rationalisation Strategy identifies various Council properties (land and/or building assets) that are not serving a useful purpose for the delivery of Council’s agreed services or are nearing the end of serviceability.
The draft Property Review and Rationalisation Strategy 2025 was endorsed for public exhibition at the December 2025 Ordinary Council Meeting on Friday 19 December 2025, having previously been presented to Council for initial discussion at a workshop on Thursday 6 November 2025.
