Consultation has concluded
Members of the public are invited to make comments on the draft Public Arts Policy currently on public exhibition for 28 days. Please provide your feedback by 5pm Tuesday 26 April 2022.
In 2021, the SMRC Arts and Culture 355 Advisory Committee worked collaboratively to create a draft SMRC public art policy. During this process, the Committee reviewed the Public Art Policy and associated Guidelines adopted by Byron Shire Council and agreed that the policy framework and content are a good fit for Snowy Monaro purpose. The Byron Shire Council policy has been adapted to fit the SMRC context and be placed on public exhibition. Feedback from this exhibition will be incorporated before a final draft is returned to Council for adoption. An adopted policy will allow for the development of associated guidelines. SMRC would like to thank Byron Shire Council for their assistance with this project.
The Policy aims to position the Snowy Monaro region as an arts and cultural highlight of South Eastern NSW with vibrant, contemporary public art through an innovative program that reflects and promotes the unique character and lifestyle of the region.
Council recognises that high-quality public art has the ability to enhance public places and spaces. It can also add immeasurably to a community’s sense of place, contribute to civic identity, address community needs, and activate public spaces.
Feedback may be submitted any time during the exhibition period, by completing the below form or in writing via:
Post: Addressed to the CEO, PO Box 714, Cooma, NSW, 2630.
