Inform Council's Resource and Waste Management Strategy
Consultation has concluded
In 2020, Snowy Monaro Regional Council undertook extensive community consultation to ensure our community had an opportunity to provide feedback on current resource and waste management services offered throughout our region.
The information received from the community has provided an overview of the region’s expectations of services provided by Council.
With this feedback, along with a review of current services, we have developed our draft Resource and Waste Management Strategy (the strategy). The strategy will provide direction for the department’s services and operations over the next 10 years. The strategy covers all areas of resource and waste management including waste facilities, composting, kerbside collection, bank of bins, education, waste diversion and avoidance, recycling and site rehabilitation.
For example, it proposes to:
- Expand kerbside collection
- Implement domestic Food and Garden Organics (FOGO) kerbside collection
- Add additional Bank of Bin locations for rural property owners
- Options analysis for bulky waste collection services
This next phase of consultation seeks to gather further feedback from our community on the draft strategy, ensure that we have captured your vision for the future of these service within our region.
Thank you to those who provided feedback on the draft strategy, which closed on Thursday 6 May 2021. Our team is now reviewing all provided information, which will be presented to Council for their consideration.
If you have any questions or wish to discuss any aspects of the presentation please contact us on 1300 345 345.
