Consultation has concluded
Thank you to those who feedback on the proposed new fees and charges for Proponent-Initiated Planning Proposals. Our team are now reviewing the submissions and a report will be presented to Council for their consideration.
Background
At the Council meeting held on Thursday 16 November, Council resolved to seek community and stakeholder feedback on proposed new fees and charges for assessing Proponent-Initiated Planning Proposals.
A full review has been undertaken to ensure cost recovery and regional benchmarking to ensure that the fees and charges Council applies to Proponent-Initiated Planning Proposals are fair and equitable.
The Financial Sustainability Review prepared by AEC (October 2022) recommended that Council review the pricing for fees and charges and ensure they reflect cost recovery for services, as far as it is practical to do so, without significantly impacting access to services by the community. By charging cost recovery fees for planning proposals, income will be commensurate with the actual cost of delivering the service.
