Consultation has concluded
This consultation has now closed. Thank you for your input on the final paint design for the Adaminaby Trout. Our team is reviewing all 0f the feedback and we will update the community in the coming weeks.
Background
Last year marked the 50th anniversary of the unveiling of the sculpture, created by Adaminaby-based artist Andy Lomnici in 1973. Andy was a Hungarian-born multi-disciplinary artist who came to Australia in 1940, working as a teacher before becoming a full-time artist based out of Adaminaby later in life.
The major maintenance and restoration work on Adaminaby’s Big Trout was undertaken in late 2023. Now it's time to have your say on the final paint design.
Our community, regular visitors and admirers across the country feel a deep connection to the Adaminaby Big Trout and what it represents. Council commissioned the designs, taking inspiration from the original design, community and well-known aquatic wildlife artist Trevor Hawkins on the direction, of the options that you can now select as the final paint job.
Adaminaby's Big Trout, with paint stripped during restoration in 2023.
