Council is seeking community input concerning the proposed fencing of the Snowy Reservoir Site, Cooma.
As outlined in the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines 6, 2011, Version 3.5, and guidelines published by the NSW Department of Health (Managing pathogen risks in drinking water: Response protocol for water utilities and public health units, and the Sanitary Survey Guidance), system barriers should be implemented and inspected for water supply systems under the control of the Council. System barriers include “…storage protection such as fences and locked gates”. Council, therefore, proposes erecting a fence around the Snowy Reservoir Site, Cooma in order to manage potential pathogen risks.
The following design is proposed for the fencing for the reservoir site:
Erect a new permanent wire mesh fence around the Snowy Reservoir site
Supply and install 2 double gates (6000 mm) and 1 personnel access gate (1000 mm)
Galvanised chain wire will be used - 3.15mm wire with 50mm aperture and height 1800mm
45-degree angle crank (gooseneck) with 3 x 2mm barb wires above
Intermediate post spacing of 3000 mm
The location of the fencing and gates is indicated as per the diagram, which can be downloaded from the "Documents" section of this page. The location of the fence has taken the existing walking trail in the area of the reservoir into account and has allowed sufficient space for its continued use.
Please provide any feedback you have on this proposed project by completing the below form by 5pm Friday 15 January 2020 or by phone our Manager Water and Wastewater Operations on (02) 6451 1587.
