Jindabyne Skate Park Refurbishment
Consultation has concluded
Project Update
Community members came together on Wednesday 25 October 2023 to see off the old Jindabyne Skate Park, ahead of the facility closing on Monday 13 November to make way for an all-new skate facility.
It was an afternoon of fun and farewells, with 150 people of all ages and abilities enjoying a free barbecue and final session in the bowl, while looking over the designs for the new facility.
While it was sad for many to say goodbye to the park that has served the community faithfully for many years, local skaters, riders, scooters, and bladers were all excited for work to get underway.
Work on the $1.5mil Jindabyne Skate Park upgrade is scheduled to take 14 weeks from beginning to completion, weather and other potential delays permitting.
Demolition of the existing site will commence on Monday 13 November. Jindabyne Skate Park will be fenced off while work is underway, with residents and visitors reminded to keep clear of the construction work and be mindful of workers, vehicles and heavy equipment.
The new facility will open to the public in early 2024.
An all-new half-pipe, mini-ramp, and a refurbished bowl are just some of the new features coming to Jindabyne thanks to this project. Artist renderings of the new design are available on the project page on our website.

Background
Snowy Monaro Regional Council has been successful in attracting funding for the refurbishment of the Jindabyne Skate Park through the Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund, co-funded by the Australian and NSW Governments.
In 2018 Convic were commissioned to develop a concept plan as part of the first stage in the refurbishment project for the Jindabyne Skate Park. The project, to be undertaken between October 2022 and June 2023, is now progressing and we are seeking community feedback to fine-tune the design.
The funding scope for this project is to deliver a refurbishment of the current site. The bowl will be retained and works will be focused on ensuring the park is suited to all levels, beginner through to advanced. The skate park footprint, meaning the land the current skate park covers (on page 3), must remain the same. The landscaping included within the current design will change, with the landscaping selection finalised after consultation.
