We would like to thank our community for their participation in our first phase of consultation for our Regional Trails Master Plan.

Our survey closed on Wednesday 7 April 2021. Our Team is now reviewing your feedback. This information, along with an extensive review of our current assets, will assist in the development of our draft Regional Trails Master Plan. We will then come back out to our community for further consultation.

Background

The Regional Trails Master Plan will identify sustainable trail opportunities on Council land which have the greatest potential to create benefits for the community, economy and environment. The success of this project relies on contributions from the community.

The Snowy Monaro Regional Council is working with specialist trail planners at Tredwell Management to develop the Regional Trails Masterplan.

The project aims are to:

  • Create a positive & collaborative culture for all users
  • Strengthen the perception of the Snowy Mountains region as a destination of choice for mountain biking, cycling, trail running and walking
  • Determine the optimal visitor trail experiences & iconic tourism opportunities
  • Increase visitation that contributes positively to the local economy
  • Enhance the sustainability & liveability for local communities.

A key component of this project is to further explore and assess the feasibility of a ‘Round the Lake’ option for the Lake Jindabyne Shared Trail.

Community workshops were held throughout the region between 9 -18 March, both in person and via zoom.
